Large 19th Century Pine and Gesso Georgian Style Fireplace Surround
Description
For Sale: A large and elegant late 19th century pine and gesso fireplace surround in the Georgian manner, fully waxed and polished showing great colour. A large shelf with repeating acanthus leaf edge decoration with a secondary supporting shelf, above an elaborate frieze hosting a central tablet with a large urn of fruit and side floral tendrils, flanked by side panels of wheat husks inter spread with stopped fluting, above a cornice of oak acorn and dart.
The tall jambs have rams heads set on to the capitols with framed panels below of further trailing wheat husks and foliage, the generous opening is framed with linked rings centred with daises and round patereas to the corners, all resting on moulded foot blocks.
